LIVING WITH PETS: Choosing the Best Slipcover for your Furniture

If you live with pets– specially those who have claimed a sofa–, and want to protect your investment (= furniture), this guide is for you. We will help you pick the slipcover/protector that better suits your needs and taste. Check out the PRO's and CON's of some fabrics/designs, and click on the direct link to learn about the solution you were hoping for.

Let's start with the FACTS...

FACT #1: Furniture is getting expensive.

FACT #2: Pets love them as much as we do

NOW the basics:

You can't skip or take lightly this part. Even if the sizing refers to “one-seat/armchair”, “two-seat/loveseat”, “three seat/sofa” or "four seat” options, the truth is that not all furniture are created equal. To make sure you get a good fit follow the product measurement instructions and refer to the size chart before placing your order.
Sofa style
Know the build of your original sofa cushions: are they loose cushions or sewed into the back? This will affect the kind of slipcover you can get. If the sofa cushions are sewed to the back, making it like a one piece, you will not be able to fit an all around wrap slipcover. But we have an option for that.
If your furniture is a traditional leather or leather-like style: make sure you pick an slip-resistant one. That will hold it in place.
If the original fabric of the sofa to cover is polyester or cotton based fabric you would not have to worry about the backing, but about the weight of the fabric and it's capacity to hide the underneath design or damage. Fabrics like this will do the job.

The best fit based on your furniture condition:

We suggest selecting an all-around, one-piece wrap slipcover.
PRO's: These will cover all sides of each piece. Comes in variety of colors, so it would be easy to find one that suits your taste and room color scheme. Works well with oversized and sectional sofas. It will do the job of covering what's underneath. Polyester and microfiber stretch fabrics provide a more fitted appearance.
CON's: This kind of covers are usually made of polyester and spandex, and the fabric tends to be light weighted. Some effort will be needed to make it look well stretched and to stay in place, but nothing you and a friend can't do. Harder, but not impossible to remove for washing.
